The 28-year-old composer, singer-songwriter and pianist Lana Janjanin was born in Zagreb, Croatia into a musical family. She started studying music at the age of 4 and was classically trained in her homeland (majoring in piano and music theory). At 23 she attained a master’s degree in Media Composition from the prestigious University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.
Alongside Lana’s classical education, she developed a strong passion for jazz, soul and pop music. Her exploration of these genres, in which she is self-taught, has greatly influenced her work over the years. She started writing her songs and performing them on the piano, which later led to forming her own ensembles and collaborations with big bands.
Lana is the composer/lyricist/arranger of her works, which she also conducts, given the opportunity.
She composes and produces music for media (film, theatre, radio, TV), as well as for classical ensembles (solo instruments, chamber ensembles and orchestras).
She has performed with various renowned musicians and ensembles including violin virtuoso Roby Lakatos, the ORF Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the HRT Big Band.
